ES/ DULCE QUEMADO

Lo dulce es gustoso y placentero, pero si se quema, es negro, pegachento y amargo. Dulce Quemado es una imagen que muestra la distancia entre lo que se espera y la decepción. Es la posibilidad de que algo, que estaba bien, salgan mal. Es la fantasía que se rompe. Es lo puro que se corrompe. Es la posibilidad de que dos cosas, aparentemente opuestas, estén pasando al mismo tiempo.

El proceso de selección de las imágenes comenzó con el principio mágico “como es arriba es abajo”. A partir de esto pensé: arriba está el cielo, las estrellas, los animales que vuelan; abajo está el infierno, los animales que se arrastran, el concreto. Luego pensé en esta separación desde un ámbito moral: arriba están las cosas nobles y buenas, lo bello, lo pulcro, lo incorrupto; abajo lo malo, lo sucio, lo vulgar, lo pecaminoso. Así entonces elegí situaciones de distintos contextos que pudiera ubicar en esas categorías y otras que quedaran en el medio, en la indefinición.

El resultado es una constelación de imágenes-momento dispuestas en el espacio mediante relaciones de cercanía, superposición y jerarquía vertical: unas junto a otras, unas encima y otras debajo.

La exposición se acompaña de un playlist de canciones ralentizadas e interpretadas en órgano. Este soundtrack adopta un tono solemne y grave, cercano a lo litúrgico y a la tradición de lo sagrado. Sin embargo, con el paso del tiempo, las melodías se vuelven reconocibles: éxitos pop, canciones banales, comunes, populares. Esa familiaridad progresiva permite una relación cada vez más íntima con la música, donde lo solemne y lo cotidiano se contaminan mutuamente.

ENG/ BURNT CANDY

Sweetness is tasty and pleasant, but if burned, it is black, sticky, and bitter. Burnt Candy is an image that shows the distance between what is expected and disappointment. It is the possibility that something, which was right, will go wrong. It is the fantasy that is broken. It is the pure that is corrupted. It is the possibility that two opposite things are happening at the same time.

The process of selecting the images began with the magical principle "as above, so below". From this I thought: above is the sky, the stars, the animals that fly; below is hell, crawling animals, concrete. Then I thought about this separation from a moral perspective: above are the noble and good things, the beautiful, the neat, the incorrupt; down with the bad, the dirty, the vulgar, the sinful. So, I chose situations from different contexts that I could place in those categories and others that remained in the middle, in the lack of definition.

The result is a constellation of moment-images arranged in space through relationships of proximity, superposition, and vertical hierarchy: one next to the other, one above and some below.

The exhibition is accompanied by a playlist of slowed down songs performed on the organ. This soundtrack adopts a solemn and serious tone, close to the liturgical and the tradition of the sacred. However, with the passage of time, the melodies become recognizable: pop hits, banal, common, popular songs. This progressive familiarity allows for an increasingly intimate relationship with music, where the solemn and the everyday contaminate each other.
